The current City Hall is one of the most representative heritage buildings in the city. Formerly the headquarters of the Mining Office, it flanks the quadrilateral of the historic city center and was built in 1739, in Baroque style. It was erected on the ruins of the old city hall, which was destroyed in 1539. The ceilings of the interior rooms are beautifully decorated with bas-reliefs, and the mining emblem (two crossed hammers) can still be seen on the vaulted entrances to the basement.
