MARIȚA GRIGOR

MARIȚA GRIGOR

Born on October 9, 1942, in Chiuzbaia, Marița Grigor is one of the most renowned folk artists from our region.
Following an accident, she was left disabled, with one leg amputated. However, her deep faith and love for her roots did not stop her from creating. Even today, she continues to craft beautiful traditional costumes and “Chiuzbaia” coats, skillfully spins and weaves wool, and bakes delicious bread and corn cakes in a clay oven.
Poetry has been her comfort, and throughout her life, she has written verses of rare sensitivity. A lover and preserver of traditions, she collects authentic folklore and carefully and reverently preserves everything that represents the past, tradition, and meaning.
Today, she is honored through numerous volumes and publications in which she was either the author or a collaborator, and the costumes she created can be admired in private collections across the continent.
