The Bodi Lake is located at an altitude of 731 meters, at the foot of Mount Mogoșa – also known as the Black Mountain.
Before any technical interventions, a natural water pond existed where the lake lays now. With the development of mining in the area and the increasing need for water in mining operations, the small lake was transformed into an artificial reservoir.
The Bodi Lake supplied the entire amount of water needed for the proper functioning of the mines. In the second half of the 20th century, rising production demands and water shortages led to the elevation of the dam. The dam was rebuilt, and by around 1960, the lake reached a depth of 7 meters and a surface area of 4 hectares.
Located in a picturesque landscape, the lake became a favorite spot for hikers and tourists. In addition to the opportunity to swim in a clean mountain lake or enjoy various water sports, visitors can enjoy hiking trails, fishing, or other outdoor activities in the area.
